Rhodium is a very rare, noble, silvery-white, hard, corrosion-resistant transition chemical element and member of the platinum group metal.
It is considered the rarest and most valuable precious metal in the world — far more so than gold or platinum.
What is Black Rhodium ?
Black rhodium is a dark, metallic black plating composed of rhodium and other metals that can coat any of our precious metal selections and give them a cool, edgy aesthetic.It’s a proprietary alloy that combines rhodium with other metals to create a signature gunmetal look.
How is Rhodium Plating Done?
Jewelers add rhodium plating to the surface of a piece of jewelry through an electroplating process. Most of the jewelers use electroplating pen to apply rhodium. We use mostly plating bath instead of using plating pen to have a black satin finish look on our jewelry.
How Long Does Rhodium Plating Last?
Rhodium plating is not permanent. It will wear off with continued wear and exposure to sweat, cosmetics, and other common materials.
