The Csodaszarvas, Miraculous Deer, is a central element in Hungarian mythology, thus seen as a powerful goddess of fertility and a divine guide – it led to the founding of the Hungarians. 

The ancient Greeks associated Artemis, the goddess of wild animals, the forest, and hunting, with the deer. Above all, Artemis valued her freedom. So, she begged her father, Zeus, to allow her to stay a maiden so she could run freely in the woods forever. The Golden stag of Artemis, was said to be a beautiful male deer. The stag had gold antlers and hooves made of bronze and brass.
